How Your Music can help in Healing

We've all heard that music aids meditation, relaxation and healing. But most of us don’t know exactly why. I can only explain this phenomenon in the context of energy-based healing. I don't actually know what healing principles people who are creating music for the purpose of healing are basing their music on.
In energy-based healing, a musician will first need to detect the specific energy centers or channels that are “heavy” or have energy blocks — this is accomplished through the musician's subtle awareness. Then, rendering specific ragas or tunes that are attributed to specific energy centers can help remove the blocks. In some cases, the musician may emphasize a specific note, or provide a prolonged rendition of a note, that resonates with the relevant blocked or heavy energy center or chakra.
How does removing energy blocks cause healing? All our mental, physical and emotional problems can be traced back to specific energy centers. For instance, feelings of insecurity, fearfulness or nervousness are attributable to a weak heart chakra (Anahat). This specific energy center then needs to be energized or have blocks removed.
All diseases, ranging from the simple to the complex, are ultimately related to some kind of an energy imbalance, barring true physical symptoms such as injury (which is, of course, not a disease). Therefore, it's technically [theoretically?] possible to cure all diseases through the medium of music, and this has been done successfully by many musicians.
However, it's important to understand that the true purpose of music is to enlighten rather than to heal. I would personally prefer to avoid trying to heal some complex disease with music. (Not that I’ve tried this, but I can confidently state that I would likely be far less successful in curing someone than in giving them the bliss of spiritual enlightenment!) This is not to suggest that no musician should try healing. It's a question of how you want to channelize your energy. To each his own. But to believe that any method of healing through music can have a more profound impact than the many modern medical treatments we have today would be somewhat presumptuous, although not impossible. At the least, I can say that if I were invited to sing to an audience with a history of health problems in order to cure them, I’d most likely refuse.
On the other hand, music, used as an adjunct therapy to medical treatments, can be quite powerful. Music absolutely has the power to accelerate healing. The body's natural ability to heal itself can be enhanced by listening to pleasant and spiritually-inclined music, particularly tunes or ragas attributed to specific chakras.
