Spirituality and Enlightenment: How It Begins
The soul or spirit resides in the heart of the human body. It is subtle in nature, the reflection of the all-pervading power. This power — this energy — encompasses everything in the Universe. It is the ultimate source of all truth and knowledge, including both that which is known to human beings and that which remains unknown to us in conscious awareness.
This all-pervading power also witnesses the play of its Power, the Primordial Power, which is feminine in nature. This Primordial Power is the one that created the Universe and is responsible for evolution and the creation of human beings. You can think of the Ultimate power (also recognized as God Almighty) as the witnessing power, and the Primordial Power as the execution power. A reflection of this Primordial feminine power is also present within each of us. It exists as a subtle energy known as “Kundalini,” which physically resides at the base of the spine and is usually dormant in human beings at birth.
The reflections of these two powers — the Sprit and the subtle energy, play an interesting role within us. The spirit represents the “attention” within us. It transcends our conscious mind and watches everything that we do, where we go, the choices we make, and pretty much everything that happens to us.
Regardless of how we may lead our lives and whatever we might do, either good or bad, the spirit always knows the truth since it is a part of the ultimate source of truth. This is what we commonly recognize as the inner conscience. The subtle energy — the reflection of the Primordial power — is the energy that acts as a "recorder" of all information about us as we progress through various stages of evolution.
Spiritual enlightenment is the union of these two powers that are normally separated within us. This union occurs through the awakening of the dormant energy and its union with the cosmic energy or all-pervading power.
So, what happens when these powers unite? And why does one need enlightenment in the first place?
For starters, we reach a much higher state of awareness and knowledge once we experience the connection with the spirit and all-pervading power. You will find that your power of understanding, comprehension and problem-solving will increase exponentially. Getting on the “right track” in life becomes a whole lot easier, and staying on the right track becomes more likely. For example, we all feel an inner sense of being on the right track when we think of “going green” or “spreading peace in the world.” Why? Because these principles are resonant with goodness and well-being.

And gradually, negative feelings and emotions find their way out of your core inner self, which leads to a total transformation within. This transformation in the inner spiritual plane then works itself outward to the physical, mental and emotional planes. Now the sky is the limit on what you can achieve in life. And this transformation is combined with a state of inner tranquility, complete joy and a great sense of humor. The culmination is becoming a Master, completely independent in life, while still enjoying the collectivity and presence of other human beings. And since the connection helps you tap into the cosmic energy source, it's not surprising that you'll feel full of energy and enthusiastic every day.
