Successfully finding the Spirit: The Subtle Energy System
Contrary to popular belief that spirituality is based solely on faith and has no scientific or logical proof, Spirituality or the presence of the Spirit within is actually based on a logically arranged system of subtle energy — energy channels and energy centers. The inner subtle energy system is comparable to your home's electrical system. Our inner energy is like electricity. The wires in your home are the energy channels or carrier of your home's inner electricity.
The energy centers may be thought of as electric switches or ports or switchboards. They are simply points of concentration for electricity or outlets for tapping the inner energy. The energy channels may also be explained as the manifestation of the power of our inner energy in complete form for full-body functioning. Each room in your house has a purpose and is used for something important. Likewise, each energy center has a purpose in our evolution that's related to specific bodily functions, just as the various light switches in your house control the light in different rooms. The inner energy itself (the actual electricity within the house, in our analogy) is called Kundalini. It resides in the sacrum bone, which is found at the base of the spine.
After its formation, the Kundalini energy is dormant in all human beings due to the closing of the limbic area of the brain. Your limbic system (emotional and motivational system) is the conduit that connects your inner energy to the main power supply. You can think of the limbic area and the crown of the head as analogous to the main switchboard that regulates the flow of electricity from the external power supply or circuit into the home.
So, spiritual enlightenment is the lighting up of "the house" within us. The main power supplies are switched on, as are all the switches, and the electricity or energy starts flowing through all circuits. The house that was in darkness is now fully illuminated, and we are able to see things clearly. Not only that, we're now able to apply this electricity or energy to multiple uses — lighting, appliances and other devices that exist for our comfort and allow us to fully control our lives.
Likewise, the Kundalini energy is awakened during spiritual enlightenment. It then passes through six energy centers placed along the central nervous sytem, fills the limbic area, penetrates the crown of the head, and connects or unites itself with the all-pervading power or the energy that is omnipresent in the universe. This cosmic energy is the energy that drives the whole universe and everything in it, including human beings. Sure, each human is given additional special powers of control, such as an individual brain that can think, rationalize and control movements and behaviors. But the power of our brains is miniscule compared to the overall cosmic, all-pervading power.
Once enlightenment occurs, one can see oneself clearly. Problems, limitations, emotions, ego, habits, behavior — everything. In other words, it is as if there is a core entity within that is separate from all these human aspects that is witnessing these aspects. This core entity is simply the Spirit or the soul. Thus, spiritual enlightenment leads to the discovery of one’s soul or the Spirit within. The result of our seeking ends with the finding of the Spirit, the ultimate truth and the core of our existence. This spirit is a reflection of God Almighty and part of this all-pervading higher power. Spiritual enlightenment thus causes us to find and realize God within ourselves. God or the supreme power within us manifests in the form of this entire subtle energy system.
The Spirit is a reflection of God Almighty that is physically located in the heart, the 7 principal energy centers (within our plexuses), the three primary energy channels and the Kundalini energy, or the desire power within us. The desire power within us grows stronger and stronger as we seek the ultimate truth. Ultimately, with the reflection of the desire power within us, the Kundalini, awakens, and connects with the all-pervading power, becoming one with it. As "normal" people, but without many of the normal conflicts, complications, problems and confusion within. One may be able to live inside a house without electricity, but certainly, a well-lit house with all the appliances working provides a higher quality life full of energy and joy.
